Hilary and Love Actually

Hilary bought “Murphy” when he was only three years old. Murphy was purchased because of his terrific jumping form. It took months for this team to click. But after training from Sunni and many lessons the team successfully competed in the Children’s hunters during their first show season. Murphy and Hilary won many junior hunter championships during Hilary’s last junior season. Last season the team earned top ribbons in Kentucky in the Low hunter and Amateur Owner hunter divisions.

June News

June has been a busy month as Stonecrest Farm. On the second Sunday in June Sunni took a group of 8 horses and riders to Red Tail Ridge Farm to school over the cross country course. Everyone had a blast galloping around in the open fields and jumping up to training level fences. The horses even jumped in and out of the water bank. Sunni is planning on taking another cross country trip in August. Sign ups are now available.

Sunni was very pleased with her riders performances at the Purina Mills Hunter Classic. All of girls earned top ribbons in their divisions. A special congratulations goes out to Johanna Rosenfield who was reserve champion of the intermediate adult hunters at her mount, King Arthur’s, very first show. Also a big congratulations to Kaitlynn Morefield who was champion of the regular pony hunter division with Gold O’Mine. We would also like to congratulate Lauren Jardine for a great preformance at her very first show in the children’s hunter division. She placed forth in the 3ft OHJA medal. Also we are pleased to announce that Anna Harbaugh and Sinatra had a great first showing in the hopeful jumpers where they earned a forth and sixth over their two jumper courses. Hilary Gerlach received top ribbons in the amatuer owner hunters at her first horse show back from her sophomore year of college. We are very pleased with the efforts of both the horses and riders and are looking forward to our next show.

Love Games (Lily)

Lily is a seven year old mare pony who is out of Stonecrest Farm’s Gold O Mine. Lily has been trained undersaddle for the past two years and has gone over fences at 2’3. Lily has a laid back personality and is a great mover. Lily is a great prospect.

Both young girls have had the pleasure of being taught to ride by this fancy small pony, “Chloe”. Chloe is a talented yet trying pony who will make a fantastic rider out of any child. Kaitlynn began showing Chloe in the walk/trot divisions and has quickly moved up into the regular small pony hunters where they are earning top ribbons in shows in Ohio and Kentucky. Zoie also began showing Chloe in the walk/trot divisions and recently has made the exciting transition into the short stirrup divisions and received top ribbons at her very first horse show. We are looking forward to both girls’ continued success in the pony ring.

“Cienna” has been a part of Stonecrest farm since 2003. She is an amazing mare, who has been a favorite of many riders at Stonecrest farm. Amy purchased Cienna in 2008 and has been successfully competing in the intermediate adult hunters and equitation divisions. Abby half leases Cienna and also shows in the intermediate adult hunters. Both riders are cleaning up at horse shows and are definitely looking forward to their future success.

Mickey and Gaelic’s Storm

Mickey has been around horses his whole life. He began jumpers shortly before he met Sunni. Mickey’s goal was to compete in the Adult jumper divisions. Sunni found “Slots”. Slots was an athletic thoroughbred that had the scope and speed to be an adult amateur jumper. Mickey and Slots were the team to beat in the jumper ring for many years. Mickey is now focusing on the success of his standard bred race horses but still shows with Sunni every opportunity he gets.

Mary Grace and Sedona

Mary Grace has been a Stonecrest rider for many years now. She first started out riding lesson horses and then moved up to her mother’s dressage horse, Kita. After she had successfully shown in the short stirrup and intermediate divisions, it was decided that Mary Grace needed a horse of her own. Sedona was a perfect fit for Mary Grace. Sedona and Mary Grace have spent the past few shows mastering the intermediate children’s hunter divisions and are expected to move up into the children’s hunter division shortly.

Kate with Grey’s Anatomy and Kashmir

Kate first came to Stonecrest as a promising and dedicated beginner rider. Kate showed great enthusiasm for riding and first purchased her intermediate children’s mount Grey’s Anatomy. After two successful show seasons, Kate was ready for the children’s hunter. Sunni and Kate went to Virginia to find her next horse. They found Kashmir, also known around the barn as Abba. Kate and Kashmir are now successfully showing in the children’s hunters and very excited to move up to the junior hunter division.

Anna and Sinatra

Anna first came to Stonecrest with big dreams and a very small pony. After finding a good home for her pony, the search began for a more suitable mount. Because of Anna’s patience and ability to understand and nurture horses, Sunni and Anna agreed that a retired racehorse would be a great fit. Anna and Sunni found “Gold” in the New Vocations Adoption Program. Anna has been working with Gold since 2006 and they have made a great fit. Anna has recently moved up to the Children’s Hunter Division and the team is earning top ribbons.
